surround help (5.1 in a tough room)

I think I've ruled out in-ceiling speakers. They would be mounted directly above the majority of the listening positions and this just seems like a bad idea. I think I have better options at least....

I know a lot of people like to raise the center channel slightly (especially if they raise the subwoofer), but Audyssey is actually lowering my center channel by -2db....
