While not likely (considering the 7500 didn't have the same issue), does it change if you plug the Oppo directly into the projector, and/or use the second HDMI out on the Oppo (assuming it has two...

Yes, several people, including professionals, have mentioned that the results of the latest autocal tool are flawed. It still works for gamma curves, like you did, but wait on the calibration.

Are you sure it it wasn't the x5000? I'm not sure if that was the model name in Europe only. JVC's naming convention drives me nuts.

My processor only has HDMI 1.4. I don't want to replace my pre-pro, but if I upgrade to the RS420, I'll need to connect at least 3 HDMI 2.0 sources - UHD Player, PS4 Pro, and PC. Is there a decent...

Heck, I don't even have a 4k projector or player, and I'm already buying 4k media if it's offered for the movie I want. Obviously, the fact that 4k discs also have the regular blu ray is important,...

Since you've seen the 400 and the 420, is the contrast really (quite a bit) lower on the 420 than the 400, or was the set that Chad measured an anomaly?

Check with Mike. I wouldn't be surprised if you could get the JVC for less than you're thinking. I don't know the exact price, but I don't think the delta for street price is $1,000.

Thanks for the suggestion, Matt. They did indeed tell me that they are going the send me a refurb, since I've had the PJ for a year, and they are no longer making the 5025. I'm going to be very...

If you use your BB card, you get 24 months. Again, it wouldn't really be worth it if they don't allow you to haggle (or, in ScottSFA's case, get the employee discount). If all things are equal, 24...

Are you able to do this in fast mode? If you have to FI enabled to do this, I think the input lag would be counterproductive. If you can do this in fast mode, I think you may have found something...

I think the most important thing is that someone buys what's released. Purists are far too small a % of the overall population to sustain physical media. If Bad Santa 2, and its ilk, leads to sales...

For 0% financing, or 6% rewards, I'd guess. I don't know if Best Buy allows you to haggle the price down. If they don't, the 6% rewards wouldn't make up for buying the projector at MSRP. 0%...

I believe the higher refresh rates are with frame interpolation enabled (and 480 is for 3D content). If you turn on FI, you may have smoother motion when gaming, but lag suddenly becomes an issue. ...

I went back and looked at your review of the RS400, and the 420 measure out considerably lower in native contrast. It's still quite a bit better than my Epson, but I'm surprised to see such a large...

What happens if you disable chroma upscaling? Also, since you have madVR, have you tried ripping the disc and seeing if the banding is the same when you feed it from your HTPC?

Okay, so HDR data is still sent, but the JVC is tricked into thinking it's SDR? I'm trying to get my ducks in a row for a likely purchase later this summer :).

I read the thread where this is discussed, but I still don't understand *why* this works. Aren't these projectors software limited to not engage the DI when HDR is detected?

Turn off Frame Interpolation, and set Super Resolution to 0. Frame Interpolation, especially, adds a delay. SR adds a bit of a delay, but also noticeable aliasing.
