Set the speakers to small and set the cross over to 80hz and see how it sounds. Also make sure you aren't using Pure Direct or Direct mode.

My X4000 keeps locking up. The behavior is different but the solution is the same. Sometimes it will just lock up. It will not accept IR commands and the power button on front does not work....
