If they use either of their current encoders for 1080i+720p+480i, the green and pink flashes will be the least of their problems.

They will probably use something like 8 or 9 Mbps CBR for CBS19...

Wouldn't they want WUAB to still be 43.1, even if carried on WOIO's signal, for branding purposes?

Or are their encoders so ancient that they cannot set up their PSIP to have different primary...

You're lucky you can get one of them.

I get a slight blip sometimes on WEKA (not even close to being decodable), and nada on the other one.

Or better yet, put them all on W16DO (if it survives and Media-Com will sell it). With those rates, they could have 12-15 subs easily.

What's the point if they don't put their transmitter on high ground where they would have actual coverage. And as an LP station, they will never have cable coverage.

It seems crazy that they wouldn't spend, say, a million to upgrade their encoder to the latest and greatest when they probably made in the neighborhood of 15-20 million selling WUAB's signal.

Even...

Yeah, it's nice to have during severe weather. But I'd much, much rather have MeTV than that radar.

Didn't last long, the local commercial and ID timing was messed up again last night. They also partially wiped out a segment of Hogan's Heroes with a local break that ran too long.

I really hope MeTV goes to WKYC.

Even if it stays on 19, it will have so little bandwidth left after the WOIO and WUAB HD main channels it will end up looking like 61.4. Not to mention they still...

Great. Too bad 99% of the market won't be able to see it. :(

If W16DO isn't sold in the auction, DTV America should buy it from MediaCom and put their channels there. That also guarantees them a...

Possibly, if they drop the radar and are willing to cut more into NBC-HD's bandwidth (I doubt the radar uses very much bandwidth).

Why don't WEKI and WQDI at least put their transmitters on a hill somewhere instead of in the flats next to the river??? Worst possible place for a TV transmitter.

Too bad, looks like no Tribune station has MeTV. If not WJW, where else could it go?

At least WJW would probably time the breaks correctly. WOIO promotes their newscasts all the time on MeTV too.

I guess this is why WOIO doesn't bother to fix the ongoing issues with MeTV if they are going to drop it.

All last weekend the aspect ratio was messed up and there were no local hourly ID's.

I'm sure it's based on their current New London digital facility.

The repack checker lists 245kW for CH14, 5.88 kW for H-VHF and 1.42 for L-VHF. This has to be based on the 450kW UHF power.

Their pattern is also nulled to the east (and I assume the pattern is unchanged, at least initially, after the repack). So you will be probably getting a couple hundred watts towards you.
