Nope. FedEx ground will ship smaller packages up to 150 lbs, sufficient for even the F113. I paid $83 to ship my F112 (115 lbs) from NJ to FL, and JL covered the cost of return shipping.

^ Makes sense to me. I'd just add that the room EQ in the original (v1) Fathom was an analog design, not DSP. Of course there is another section of unknown processing that flattens response and keeps...

Interesting, my recent repair (which for some reason they even decided to waive the $250) came with a 2 year warranty. See my post at the top of this page.

If the new Fathom manual is anything like the old one, I'd expect this topic was thoroughly (and clearly) covered. If you must use both room corrections (which I'm guessing you do if you intend to...

I don't see any reason you couldn't use both (you would simply have to run the JLA calibration first), however purists would likely want to avoid multiple A/D processing conversions. But, two levels...

Looks like you deleted your last post, but you mentioned considering used F113s. I'd say go for it if you find a fair price (easier said than done), particularly in light of what I recently...

For number 1, I'd try it both ways and decide for myself. From what I've read, the v2's room correction is pretty advanced, but very plug-and-play (no customization). Can't comment on Anthem's room...

If you scroll up, you'll see we've been over Seaton (and similar) alternatives. Many of which are physically much larger, however Seaton has recently released the modular Submersive (F18) which...

I don't recall ever seeing such data for the Fathoms, but it's been many years since I've been looking. Maybe the CEA-2010 standard was simply too new at the time of the Fathom line's initial release...

Agree on cost, I got both my F112s from eBay for around $1100 each (took a LOT of patience). Couldn't imagine paying anywhere near MSRP.
I required the size and classy looks of these subs, but I...

Yeah, those specs obviously aren't telling the whole story. The Fathoms have been extensively measured and reviewed, always receiving praise for ample clean output throughout their rated range....

I've found nothing on blu-ray that can touch the sound quality, particularly in the bass department, of Return To Forever Live at Montreux. Not exactly a drum-heavy concert, but Lenny White has a...

No, not really. Let us know when you've done a proper, controlled listening test.
Or explain exactly how you controlled the test you've already done. ;)

Based on your original post, it seemed a dubious claim, IMHO (potential for choice-supported bias is also very real here).
If indeed what you say is true, then I suspect ARO was active on the F112...

But, again, what you say is meaningless unless you've auditioned both in the same position and the same room. Is that what you're saying you did?

Right, as long as the capacitance value is the same, you can put a larger cap in (i.e., one that's rated for higher voltage) with no issues.

At that price, obviously via the used market. I paid around $1200 for each of my F112s, but it took years of stalking eBay and Audiogon. Seems most used units go for closer to $2000, or even more if...

The F113 will dig deeper, no doubt, at the expense of some utility in the mid-bass (likely only a concern if you cross over above 100Hz). If it were me, I'd save up for a second F112 if you have the...

It really depends on what your room requires in terms of correction; that said, most untreated rooms will need more. I found it did help eliminate a lot of bloat in the sound by going after the...
