Good catch as it does indeed work this way, however, note that as you sub is set to -12db after running Audyssey, you should back the gain/volume knob down a notch or two (to say around 9 o'clock)...

Correct. Both devices must feature HDMI(ARC) in order for it to work. Also note that a TV is not going to pass HD audio using HDMI (ARC). In fact many TVs can only pass PCM 2.0 over HDMI(ARC)...

Won't process it at all as it's only HDMI 1.3. You'll have to pass video directly to the TV and then connect an audio cable from the Mini to the AVR.
