Make sure you select the internal HDD with remote button (bottom left) before pressing REC... OR connect an external HDD if you prefer to record to that.

Yes, you still need a coax for the Mag to receive the video/audio stream from the FIOS box and record what the FIOS box sees. You won't need the YWR RCA cables from the OUT of the Mag to the TV......

If you're trying to see the "coax passthrough" (channels you're receiving), you need to set Antenna Out to Old/On.. the default setting is Off, which blocks the passthrough function.
