Thanks KOF. Did we meet?

Comparing this year's F8500 to last year's (or mine) is almost impossible due to the poor placement...particularly with the filter employed by the 8500. I don't notice...

Jim, my next set will be 4K, no two ways about it. I was extremely impressed with the LG OLED, and I can only imagine how good the 4K version of this will look.

Despite whatever issues OLED may...

So 'technically', with the revised shootout #s (http://www.avsforum.com/forum/usertag.php?do=list&action=hash&hash=s) , the F8500 is the winner for the 2nd year in a row...despite its disadvantageous...

The 85 surprised me given how few dimming zones it had. It performed much better than I would have thought.

Bass, much depends on what you watch and in what lighting. For overall mixed viewing in varied lighting, I'd say the 9000 was best. For bright room viewing only, I like the 79". For sheer size impact...

Dr. Weber explained why there was that difference in viewing angle. I don't recall his answer.

For me, viewed head on, I still preferred the LG. But really, both were superb. However I can't see...

Not sure, but I assume (hope) they were turned on. I well remember the shootout I attended with the Sony XBR929. As I sat there, I knew the black levels were just wrong. I raised my hand and asked...

Thanks hobbs.

Each display has its strengths. The Elite wins on black levels and the F 8500 on color. Really tough to pick a winner between the two.

Despite the excellent blacks of the Elite,...

And all these returns drive up the costs for everyone. Nobody should be naive enough to think that retailers and manufacturers eat all of the cost.

Does anyone believe the Samsung will not also be...

Sorry, I own the F8500 and yes, it has a great picture, yes, it was poorly situated, but with that said, the LG picture was better than what I see at home.

Based on the poor viewing angle of the Samsung, I'd disagree. I'd give the nod to the LG.

You mean the same THX logo that the Sharp Elite earned, despite its color tracking issues? I don't have a whole lot of respect for that logo since it apparently translates to very little.

Dr. Weber thought the difference in the OLED viewing angles was 100% attributable to the screen type. I don't pretend to be an expert on their construction, but I'll defer to Dr. Weber on this. ;)
