Thanks Ted. To be honest, I didn't remember from where I had the information. But it's good to have it corrected now.

Ah thanks - good to know! I was told (a looooong time ago) that the output bitdepth was always the same as the input bitdepth. It seems they've updated their firmware. Or else, maybe I was told...

AFAIK, the eeColor box outputs the same bitdepth as the input (unless they changed the firmware in the meanwhile?). Which means that if the Blu-Ray player sends 8bit into the eeColor box, the eeColor...

You can do that, but only if madTPG is running on the same PC. I think there are many users who're running calibration on their laptop or something, and madTPG on the HTPC. In that combination you...

New version out now.

In theory the 8bit created 3dlut should still be good. Depending on the display, it might even be better. But it's hard to say for sure. Better test and measure.

Windows doesn't know/support 12bit output. It only supports 10bit or 16bit. And 16bit support is very weird, and broken in most drivers. So I won't support that (for now).

I believe it's an issue with this specific projector. The image degrades in a similar way with both NVidia and AMD.

I think most GPU DVI outputs are dual-link these days. E.g. I've got...

I've disabled dithering in madVR and results look good (banding free) on both LCD monitors with 10bit output, while there's heavy banding in 8bit output. Still, it's possible that the GPUs are...

Sounds good. FWIW, I'm working on native 10bit output now, and it appears to work fine on all AMD, Intel and NVidia GPUs. Well, some things are strange, though. E.g. with one computer LCD everything...

Not necessarily. If we're talking about an 8bit gray ramp then it only had exactly 220 different shades to begin with, so the damage might be somewhat limited. However, what about colored gradients?...

Correct.

madVR produces dithered 8bit output. If the GPU stretches in 8bit without dithering, the GPU has to squeeze 256 sources shades into 220 destination shades, using rounding (or worse:...

In theory it should work fine with all GPUs. I can think of 3 reasons for it going wrong:

1) Either the GPU driver is broken.
2) Or the GPU control panel has some weird options set.
3) Or maybe...

Forcing the GPU to 0-255 and setting madVR to 16-235 should result in a standard 16-235 signal for the display. Of course the display must be set to 16-235.

What would you recommend instead?...
