Also, nobody can help you without an in-room FR. Finding the optimum spot in your room for sub placement is the starting point. If all placement options fail, try a ported sub.

Yes FV is a servo sub; but I guess the story ends for it there on paper. I think it's an overly engineered sub, which was not required. That is my opinion only. I have owned this sub for over a year...

Yes I think that's the valid method. 1 meter away, as Bill also said, has other variables like driver response, cabin gain, boundary gain also come in the mix.
