Nothing wrong with that and it can be fun. I was just responding to Jrunr.

I am building another mono version of the dual mono amp I completed late last year. It's for my centre channel just so...

When I was younger and much more foolish I 'upgraded' my power cords. But now that I have spent a good deal of time learning more about electronics, designing power supplies and building amps, I have...

Yes. Apparently setting JRiver DSP Studio to use "source number of channels" doesn't work. One needs to set it to 5.1 (or 7.1 etc). You'd think it would work but it doesn't.

Oh I'm sure there's a reason. I just very much doubt the reason for the difference is lightening the load on the computer.

Setting JRiver to 24 bit doesn't fix the problem.

EDIT: the problem...

I have my device bit output set to auto which is the recommended setting. I will try 24 bit.

According to Bulldogger the CB works at 96kHz regardless of the source sample rate and so it is a...

I am encountering a problem using JRiver to play multichannel SACD ISO. I just ripped about 40 discs. On some of them I get an error saying my device - i.e. my CB IV - can't handle playback 5.1...

I already have 14 DAC channels for a processor that will only make use of 12. I was planning for the 6 D3 to manage 5.1 and 6 of the 8 D2 for the 2 'side' and 4 ceiling. ...

Ugh you're kidding. How can this suddenly be "found out"? No one talks to the engineers working on the product? I never sold my two unused D2 cards on the grounds that I would use them in the IVa...

Hi Jeff

Thanks for the response. I would draw a clear distinction between a "bridged" amplifier (two single-ended amplifiers, one driving the inverted/out of phase signal, with the speaker load...

BTW something doesn't add up on the SAE 8300. They claim "fully differential, pure balanced" design. 300W @ 8R is 70V peak. Yet the caps in the photos are rated 63V. If it is bridged, i.e. two...

Don't judge a power supply by its weight. Adding a bigger, heavier toroidal transformer doesn't make it better and using lower line or load rejection regulators of same weight would make it worse....

Yes, I was talking about the 8 channel 8300. (I presume all the in-rush and housekeeping circuitry is stuffed in the bottom of that cooling channel as well.)

I see that the fan on the 2HP which...

Hi Jeff - so presumably the cooling channel is finned for heat radiation? (It's just that they are on the inside of the channel) And I would have thought the fan controlled automatically via NTC...

BTW the distortion spec on that amp isn't anything to write home about, but the SNR figure is impressive if indeed it is conducted with the amp fully assembled in its case. However, I think SNR...

I don't mind them so long as I can't hear them. And good ones with good control are silent.

Interesting. Looks like it is fan cooled. The amp modules are bolted to a central cooling channel with a fan at one end. If they had stuck it on its nose it would have been like the Mac Pro. ;)

Yes, it would be good to see the 96kHz "bottleneck" removed, either as part of Live or with an upgrade to Unison. That plus multichannel USB would be an interesting next step. But I understand...
