Fxi's would cost $400-600/pr unless you find a bargain, vs $250-300 for comparable bookies. Bipoles do give you a better surround field due to their broad dispersion pattern, whereas the bookies give...

Glad I don't rub elbows with snobs. At least Polk has maintained their good name over the years. So many other brands have sold their name then disappeared. Meanwhile there are so many new brands...

Should be sufficient for moderate volumes. I used a 1912 to drive Rti8's, a Csi3 and Fxi4 surrounds in the same size room as yours and it sounded good. Do you have a sub? If your AVR is tasked with...

I have noticed that the Csi3/A4 tend to sound more crisp, while the Csi5/A6 sound more full.
I'd say just give your new center a couple months to break in, then fool around with placement.

Many of us here who own larger Rti's (10/12/A7/A9's) do just that... for example, cross at 40Hz for movies, and run full range stereo for music.

As much as I might have been looking forward to buying something new,
I am relieved that the announcement didn't make the stuff I already own obsolete.

Actually I need something like that isoaccoustic stand to hold up my center, but I'm not quite prepared to spend $100. Presently using four (full) soda cans and a piece of carpet.

I think it was more just about the nature of selling used equipment. Typically you're lucky to get 25% of the street price.

I spoke with Polk service about replacing the driver. I have a scrap Csi3 that uses the same size driver as the buzzy one, so I asked if I could use that as a...

$500 each is the "typical" sale price for the A9's. That's what I paid, but I got the Rti12's for $250 each. That would be great price to see for the A9's!

Unfortunately the 2112 cannot be used as a preamp. The "lowest" Denon in the 2012 line with pre-outs was the 3312. Check threads by Batpig for good lists of which Denon's can do what. I used a 3312...

It is true that your subs are indeed the weakest component in your system. The A9's would give you a little more at the top and bottom ends, but will demand a lot more from your amplifier. The A9's...

I'd say this is all moot at this point as it seems the sale is over, as far as I am able to find. I think it was just a weekend thing. Here today, gone tomorrow.
