Don't have the answer. All I know is AVC = Advanced Video Coding and is the compression format for recording and distribution of 2D video content and MVC is the format for 3D distribution.

All 3D movies on Blu-ray 3D are MVC encodes. MVC = Multiview Video Coding. It doesn't matter if it is a conversion or native 3D, because there is more than one view captured simultaneously.

First I want to clarify that I personally haven't found benefits using a chain of Darbee Darblet's for 2D. For me, one-Darbee set @ 30 Hi Def, is sufficient for most veiwing.
