Okay, I see what you're saying now.

Who knows at this point. lol. I'm just speculating. Re-reading earlier posts, it sounds like the LS10000 is a 10 bit panel that forces UHD at 8 bit (because...

What the LS10000 does is very similar to what a lot of flat panels do.

So, it takes an incoming 10 bit signal and converts it to 8 bit then dithers it to 10 bit.

The point of the tests is to...

I think we all know about the input situation as the consensus is 8 bit to 10 bit dither.

The (vetted) tests will show the panel's abilty to resolve the gradients with its 10 bit dithering;...

Here are some 10 bit gradient tests. You can just download and put on a USB stick. I'm curious how they look on the LS10000.

I wouldn't get too hung up on "specs" and they don't tell the full story and often have a marketing spin on them.

The LS10500 is a much better projector and technology which is why it's double the price, but it comes down to what you want to spend. Also, the 5040 would probably be a better bang for the buck...

Yes, it showed "--" but if it wasn't accepting it, I would get no image presumably. So it accepts the 10 bit, but then just strips/down rez to 8 bit and displays as 10 bit (I guess).

Accepting...

With the Oppo 203, I was sending 10 bit UHD BD last night to my LS10000 with no issues, so it was accepting it. Presumably, it's converting the 10 bit to 8 bit and then being dithered back to 10 bit...

So if you're sending the Epson 10 bit SDR WCG (with the Oppo 203, say) is it being converted by the Epson to 8 bit and then dithered back to 10 bit?
