LPCM is the only lossless audio that can be passed through the Oppo's HDMI inputs, if I'm not mistaken. Otherwise it's plain old DD or DTS.

Not sure what you mean, but just switching modes doesn't disable some of the other stuff that can have a significant impact on picture quality. Maybe your bunny stepped on the aspect ratio button...
