Sonotubes were all the rage now and again. They are an excellent design with respect to cost and floorspace. Overall, a means to a great sub.

+1 Emotiva amps work well. 100-200w per channel is WAAAAY more than enough, especially anything even close to 90db sensitivity. With 1099s you don't need much.
