Really nice room, why are you getting entry level subs for such a nice looking theater room? It's worth saving up for something worthy of that room.

In your room, a lot will depend on placement. If you can get the subwoofer close to your listening position, then I think a Captivator will do the trick. I would also be looking at the Reaction Echo...

Those settings will work fine. It will be virtually the same as leaving the crossover set to 'out'.

I have to wonder is the additional weight might not be advantageous in making the whole subwoofer more inert by simply adding more mass, especially as the part that the moving assembly is acting...

Given the amp and driver is the same, the idea of the VTF3 mk5 sounding better than the VTF15h mk2 is pretty nonsensical. It would only make sense if the sub was run at very high loudness levels in...

Your comparisons aren't quite correct. The CEA measurements you are looking at for the Hsu are 1 meter peak, which is the specified standard as to how CEA should be reported, and the SVS PB2000...

That happens to every single manufacturer. Sometimes shipping can knock out an amp. If that happens, Hsu will take care of the matter- I wouldn't worry about it.

Everything else being equal, an 18 will be just as good in sound quality as a 12", and often much better. The highest sound quality drivers in the world are probably 18"s, not 12"s. In bass, all a...

I would go for two powerful ported subs, the best you can afford. I would be looking at Hsu, Rythmik, or Reaction Audio. You will need 15"s at the very least, so cross some F12s off your list right...

In that setup, you would not get much output at 10 Hz I think, but you might get good 15 hz output depending on your room, and you should be able to get very good 20 Hz output. You would have...

High input sensitivity is common on the Hsu subs, but hum and noise are not. It's not likely to be a problem on a mk2 or VTF3 mk5 I believe. My Hsu subs do not exhibit noise, even with gain knob at...

A 12 sub system using these could be had for less than $3k.

12 MBM-12 kits from DIY Sound Group = $2190
iNuke 3000 = $280
MDF sheets, primer, paint, ports, terminals, etc = <$500

That would...

Stretch your budget to 1700 and get a Hsu VTF3 mk5 dual drive (http://www.hsuresearch.com/products/vtf-3mk5HPDual.html). It should be a major step in performance over the Klipsch and SVS subs.

From the $1k price point, I would go with Hsu or Rythmik. As usual, Chuckys spreadsheet is pure nonsense. More than $1k, go with JTR.

It doesn't take much of a sub to achieve -3 dB at 19 Hz when you don't specify the sound pressure level. Wake me up when there is some actual information relating to the performance of this subwoofer.

Ditch the Klipsch. It will only hinder the Hsu, not help. It can not add any appreciable output, but it may add an appreciable amount of distortion and sloppy bass.
