I dont think there is any difference between 40 and 55 at all when it comes to 3D except that the 55 comes with glasses.

I didn't notice it myself when I demoed HW40 but I've seen a lot of grain/noise on some screenshots. Even if the football shots on projectorreviews.com looks good, have a look at the Star Trek shot...

Just wanted to say that you get used to large image very quick and soon you want to go bigger. I have never yet met anyone saying they went too big when it comes to screen-size.

If compairing native contrast I would guess the two are quite the same if not slightly better on Sony.
