I'm thankful you and Zombie keep up with all this stuff to the degree you do, because at this point I'm still in 2013 trying to catch up :)

Giving the problems with Sonys contrast loss, don't know why people are still buying them. I would say at this point, argue Epson vs JVC, and leave Sony out of it. Only way I can see buying a Sony is...

That's odd, maybe that lamp was a Sony OEM?
I don't know what markings are on Sony lamps, you'd have to ask in the Sony threads.

Per Ebay, most stuff is ok if you think about it.

Star wars is ok, but they have just trashed the story so bad I barely could watch it. I think I fell asleep halfway through the movie.

My main issue isn't work, it's that I ran out of stuff to watch. After 20 years of being an avid movie and TV watcher (too much), things start to get recycled a bit. It's like another story, but same...

You can buy a cheap one, won't be as accurate, but good enough for a generic ANSI LUMENS measurement to give you a general idea, since ANSI Lumens has an inherent error in the measuring technique...

The Sony's still have panel degradation issues it appears, you'd be better off with a used JVC + Square Trade Warranty, or an Epson 5040ub if you can afford it.

This is comparing LCD to DLP, and LCD has a different look than both DLP and LCOS. LCOS is closer looking to DLP than LCD (at least pre-5040ub and with no e-shift, never seen a 5040ub yet).

When...
