I noticed zero difference in the performance for Blu-ray playback and fast-forward, rewind, etc. I never did try streaming. Did anyone actually do an A/B comparison?

Yeah. It's probably related to the lens motor.

I do prefer the Panasonic lens memory functionality. Pixel perfect every time. Plus the masking is part of the memory, which makes sense.

It's clearly capable of lossless + 3D (DTS-HD + 3D works fine), seems like a bug to me...
