Since one of my inputs will be component, it sounds like this is an upgrade worth having. I've never done a firmware upgrade on a projector before, hope we have good guidance for simpletons when this becomes available.
Well thanks to everyone for their input and interesting discussion. I sold my SX50 in a day on the AVS marketplace, and bought an RS1 from Jason. In my new setup, I won't need the big lumens but I will need the placement flexibility that the RS1 offers. We'll be watching our regular TV on a big LCD. Our Mexico theater setup will be exclusively used for movies and HD.
I just got to the point where I wanted more contrast. That's what happens when you watch a bunch of...
Well, I've weighed all the pros and cons, read the reviews, looked at how my HT setup will have to be in Mexico, and gotten sucked in by Turk once again so I just ordered an RS1 from AVS (of course!) and a new Oppo to go with it. I'm going to move my DVD player from my rack to my projector pedestal and run a Coax audio cable back to my preamp, leaving everything else the same.
Anyone in the market for a very nice Canon SX50, see the AVS marketplace.
Well I looked at QQQs screenshots and liked the way the projector handles hair so much that I decided I just gotta get one. I particularly liked how the projector did the hair of the lady holding the front of the dog.
Just when this group starts taking itself too seriously, the Q man comes along and brings it all back down to earth.
Screenshots are notoriously inaccurate for showing problems but the ones in this thread are pretty shocking. With all due respects to Tom, whom is DEFINITELY one of the good guys, I can't believe JVC is not fixing this problem. I was all set to pull the trigger on the RS1 but who can live with this if you really don't want that extra box?
Plasmas use too much power for boondocking in the moho. We have a Country Coach, I put a 32" LCD in it, definitely satisfies! Power consumption is so low we can watch movies running the TV off our inverter when dry camping.
I'm having this problem with my Denon 3910 that maybe one of you can explain. It plays regular DVD movies, even the cheapos from the $5 bin at WalMart, perfectly every time. But when we tried to watch the Sopranos HBO DVDs, it would run a while and then start macroblocking and locking up. I blew the DVD compartment and pickup off carefully with canned air, didn't help.
The problem surfaced with the Season 2 Soprano disks, all of them. It had no problem with the...
I'm thinking of moving my DVD player out to the pedestal unit that my projector is on and running the audio back to my amp. The length of coaxial cable run would be about 35 feet. Will this work with the Oppo 981 (the newest Oppo)?
