Yep - the panels are pre-converged on the optics block from factory - they are in fact soldered to it, and even if you undo the screws on the panels, it will knock them out of alignment. Don't even think of trying to do this.
Nope nothing to do with degaussing etc. Its going to be dust on the green lcd light path (cause blue and red and no green = purple)
Pink is usually the absense of green. This can be due to dust, or polarizer problems. Polarizer problems usually are in the middle of the screen rather than the edges. Probably time for a clean.
The reason why they die is simple - on black scenes, the OUT polarizer has to absorb ALL the light that is passing through the LCD. The only way it does this is to convert it to heat, and the heat kills the organic polarizing...
Soory - not the board being hard to find, the ignitor (as a part on its own).
The warm components are (by the looks of it) SMD resistors R582/R572 and R573, all in parallel with a diode D250. Thick film, probably current sense resistors to determine if the bulb is struck, and how much current it is drawing (to...
I countersinked the holes with a 3mm drillbit (by hand). The edge connector I actually ratted from a blown microphone input card from an Ogenic console (radio station desk), but they are available around the place... Eg. available...
Colour temperature can be a major issue with these chinese bulbs as well. There are a lot of manufacturers selling these bulbs, some who actually make the bulbs for the OEM's, and those who copy the bulbs ~ badly. There is a guy...
I made him an offer for it since my Z3 has other bad issues related to (I think) a power surge that fried it badly. The LP250 polarizers are a lot bigger IIRC, they are not a coloured (dichro) based one, but are the normal salmon pink...
Dont remove the LCDs from the block - IIRC they are mounted, then soldered (!) together in convergence on the block. No easy way to do this without the nec jig, may have to live with it. I did this also by mistake on a VT440K.
