Looks like the plywood in the columns is probably birch veneer. Seems to have tighter grain than the pine. From what I can see in the pics all the molding is pine. Goes to show what a good painter can do. Your woodwork looks great.
The stands look good! Some my say they make the speaker look like a two legged, one eyed robot with a big round mouth. Those are the same ones who think a B&W 800D looks like a giant d***. Nice job.

That's an eight pound speaker. You'll have no trouble with those if you find the right drywall anchors. HD or your local hardware store should have a good selection.
