Is it under 2 years old? Might give Epson a call and see if you can get a new lamp under warranty. They replaced a lot of lamps that got nowhere near their estimated life.
Hi,
Download my setup guide from Curt's site. It's the Tinman and Feathers guide.
As was already mentioned, these projectors are now beginning to suffer from leaking capacitors, it's almost certain you'll have to replace a few.
I won't argue that the polarizers in projectors are different and "tuned" for each color to achieve the optimum levels for each. The point was that any polarizer WILL work, for the sake of experimentation.
I got surprisingly good...
Yes, you can use ANY good quality polarizer as long as it fits and you rotate it for optimal result. I did this a long time ago on an old Sony LCD projector with a bad blue polarizer.
As is typical, that part is never available. Would...
Good observations...... but how do you explain the sagging of the lamp when it fails? Still looks like too much heat to me. Perhaps not enough cooling air flow while operating? But that doesn't explain why this also happens in ECO...

Yes, squeezing works because you MOVE the contacts. But it'll come back because you didn't CLEAN them. It's oxidation that causes the problem.
But then you can always just squeeze it again. Taking a projector apart isn't for everyone.
I agree. You missed a connector or something when you put it back together. The lamp is an arc lamp. Unless you drop it, you can't break it. NO filament.

Has anyone had any luck in getting "upgraded" to a new unit or newer model?
At least one guy did.
