Good idea to add the warning with respect to the Vol+ and Vol- buttons. As regards getting out of the service menu, I do have the service manual for the GT50 and the standard way to exit the service menu is to press the power button on the TV or the Remote.*However*, for some reason, for this particular mode called "Service Tool Mode" they recommend unplugging the power to exit it. That said, I have read of several people using the power button without any deleterious...

Not all did and Lee Stewart linked above to whathifi which I normally do not look at much as their reviews are very cursory at best. I then decided to see what updates whathifi had made on this issue andthis link came up which I posted a day or so ago somewhere on avsforum (initially posted on their site 2 days ago) and which appears to be a reasonably accurate summation of the situation and which coincides quite a lot with what the HDJ Panasonic Insider...
You have to wonder how much R&D Panasonic, for example, will spend on LCD and plasma. I fancy extremely little. When you look at the LCD numbers vis-a-vis the plasma sales (and remembering that Panasonic covers a broad area of price points for plasma) it seems clear that future development of higher end plasmas is not going to happen. According to the HDJ insider (before he took a temporary leave of absence), the new plasmas are ready but after 2013 I doubt there is going...
If you want to see issues just have a look at the Samsung ES8000, Sony 929 and 950 threads in the LCD sections. When people talk about a lighter vertical band here or in other panasonic 50 series threads, it is *nothing* compared to the atrocious non-uniformity many of them experience there.
The reports are starting to add up (see the thread here: http://www.avsforum.com/t/1433388/2015-plasmas-final-year/0_60 )Here is an updated report:http://www.whathifi.com/news/japan-panasonics-loss-making-tv-division-to-cut-production-of-lcd-and-plasma-panelsIf you look at the enormous drop in display sales one really has to question the future of manufacturers other than Samsung in this area.
This has been discussed here earlier in this thread (at least twice) and several people notice this. One example previously in this thread it was discussed here (read the following 20 posts afterwards)http://www.avsforum.com/t/1397245/official-panasonic-st50-series-discussion-thread-no-street-price-talk/5340_60#post_22350672In a Samsung Plasma thread I posted this:http://www.avsforum.com/t/1400627/official-samsung-pnxxe7000-pnxxe8000-owners-thread/2640_60#post_22472250I am...
Probably the only accurate (non professional) source of bias lighting is this company: http://www.cinemaquestinc.com/index.htm There is a cheaper (but I suspect far less accurate) source here: http://www.antec.com/soundscience/hdtv-bias-lighting.php And for a good article on someone's DIY efforts read here: http://biaslighting.blogspot.ca/
Manufacturing date really is of no concern and many retailers (eg Amazon) do not cycle their stock like a retailer of perishable products would do. There have been examples here with Amazon of two people ordering the same model TV in the same week and one of them will get a March build and another an August (both sets new). To check number of hours:1. With the TV on, input this key sequence: MUTE, 7, 3, 7, ENTER2. A menu will be displayed, do NOT press any more buttons.3....
It appears to be just the 50". On checking the other sizes I do not see that mentioned.
