Much to my surprise, I got a UV code for Elysium by email today that gave me access to the same movie on Vudu in HDX. I did not expect that (though the 10 sample movies also came with a UV code). Still, a pleasant surprise!
Elysium channel issue? I just watched the Elysium preview and noticed that the center channel was coming from my right front speaker. I don't have an issue with any other content, so I'm thinking there is a channel encoding issue in the preview. Can someone confirm and also, if you have it purchased, does the full movie have the same issue?
Now that I have used the set for a few days, I've been able to dial in a picture that I find attractive. However, I've noticed a rather distracting negative. When the display goes black with the backlight on, I can see like "clouds" where the display is not as dark at other areas. These aren't small clouds either. They are about the size of an adult hand.
My question is that kind of clouding acceptable or should I replace the set with a new one?
I just got a 65X850A installed with the media player. I would have preferred the X900 with passive 3D, but the set needed to be installed into a pre-existing enclosure. That said, the 4K looks really, really good! However, the black levels, not so much. My previous set was a Sharp Elite with local dimming. When watching movies, the horizontal black bars totally vanished on the Elite whereas they remain faintly visible on the Sony.
My question is, what screen...

I'm in a bit of a pickle. I'm moving places and have a wall-mounted 70" Elite. Since it's wall-mounted, I got rid the stand sometime last year. Eventually, it will be wall-mounted again at the new place, but for now I could really use a stand for the next few months. Where can I find one? Even better would be a loaner of course, but I doubt anyone is willing to lend one to a total stranger! Any advice on where I could locate one around San Diego CA would be...
So, I'm in the market for a new remote. I've used various iterations of the excellent Phillips Pronto, but that product is now gone. Logitech seems to be the only player in town now, but I don't have experience with them. What amazes me is that nobody seems to have built an open standard for this yet that would either work with iPhone/iPod/iPad level products, or even more extreme like promoted by this website: http://opensourceuniversalremote.com/
As far as I can...
