I just picked up a pair of RF-83's which I'm using in a 2 channel setup paired with a Tact M2150XDM - I'm really enjoying the sound. I've owned many more expensive speakers, but there's something about these that's just plain fun.
I'm going to be picking up a used pair of RF-83's next week that will be used in a 2 channel system with my Tact M2150XDM integrated. Figured I'd give it a shot - the 2150 has worked wonders with any speaker I've paired it with via the room correction. Any chance someone here has paired Tact with Klipsch speakers?
Wait for a Tact M2150X or XDM to come up on audiogon. You'll pay anywhere from $1500-$2000 used. The performance is worth the extra outlay. Dynamic room correction works well and the amp section is formidable and (a pet peave of mine) dead quiet.
You didn't mention your source though - and the 2150 is best used with a direct PCM feed.
I have a pair of Infinity MTS towers right now. I simply can't get what I want out of small speakers, and to be honest - I have trouble finding it in towers as well. 30Hz isn't enough extension but the biggest problem is finding something that can play with extreme dynamics and peak levels. I was listening to the Gladiator soundtrack last night thinking I still want more....
I think the days of conspicuous consumption are behind us. With that in mind, (used) Salon 1 or 2 and PSB T8 are the best choices on your list. The Salons IMHO are among the best speakers availalable at any price.
I'm running a pair of Prelude MTS in a 2 channel system. They're as good as anything I've encountered in quite awhile, and although rabos is low-tech these days, that one band makes a difference in my room.
I've listed to (or owned) Wilson WP, Revel Salon, Energy Veritas, Vienna Mahler etc. The MTS are right there....
I have (4) RB61's and an RC62 in a small system. They sound reasonably good and are fairly efficient. I have the front 3 speakers inside a wall unit because of floor space issues - I'm quite sure it's compromising the sound but I can get away with it because they're front ported.
