Comcast apparently spent close to $14 million dollars lobbying last year ($3.1 million the first quarter, $3.8 million the second alone) so I suppose it got what it paid for. Sad. And more than a bit outrageous.

Back in 1998 when NewsCorp bought (control of) DirecTV, the sat company had about 4.5 million subscribers -- less than a 5% market share. Comcast, on the other hand, already has about a 30% market share, NBC O&Os have more than that...
