So you use to have the problem and you unplugged the set for 5 minutes and it went away? If so, then it's worth a try. BTW, I have never seen that HDMI/Blu-ray message. I don't think it is related but who knows.
Please call Sharp to report problem. I get it about once a week. I immediately hit pause and wait the 10 secs or so it takes to re-boot. I use to think it was an HDMI handshake problem. I'm not sure what it is. I haven't experienced it with Blu-ray but maybe that is just dumb luck.
I just called the regular number. I was eventually routed to a tech who was nice but basically knew nothing. His only idea was to do a factory reset. I declined because I didn't want to lose my calibration settings plus he admitted he was only guessing that it would help. He also claimed it was not a known problem. so PLEASE call Sharp to register your problem. I wish there were some way to get some real attention from Sharp on this matter.
Yes I really like the set. Yes, I highly recommend calibration. Only problems are the occasional power on/off reboot problem, a somewhat narrow viewing angle and sensitivity to poor source material (BD looks fantastic, Cable varies depending on quality of source).
Well I called Sharp to register my power on/off reboot problem. The person I talked to had not heard of the problem and didn't think it was a known issue. He wanted to do a hard reset but I declined at this time because I do not want to wipe out my calibration. He admitted that it was only a logical next step but had no idea if it would work. I am hoping someone that hasn't had a calibration would try the hard reset and report back.
Keep the set. The size and PQ are impressive. I am sure we'll get the problem fixed. Many if not most sets these days have some sort of problem. Just check out all the other forums. This problem although annoying is not that common maybe once a week, lasts for maybe 5 secs and it does not deter from the pleasure of watching this set.
