I didn't notice any lack of bass while viewing the film. It sounded quite natural to me. I'll pay closer attention next time I watch it.

Are there any calibrated 3D settings? Can't seem to find any. Is it best to use Custom?

Game mode is necessary. I usually just use settings that are pretty close to my Cinema settings which are pretty much identical to Neo's calibrated Cinema settings.
