You could mount it above a fireplace even if it was 5 feet deep if you really wanted to. I'm not sure what about the depth would prevent you from doing it if thats where you wanted it. 5" should be fine there.

Well I just ordered it today, price and features were just too good to pass up. And aside from the questionable Cnet review, I've seen it get good user reviews on some other sites.
