at 8 ft...these panny's would be unwatchable for me...I notice the noise, but perhaps others don't..I envy them. My statement about black levels stands...only in the occasional scene can I sense the black level is not up to snuff....
black levels as they are on the current generation are not an issue at all except in the most difficult of scenes(< .1% of viewing material)....it's overall picture noise which holds these panny's back IMHO. I'm not sure how a Samsung...

no reason that you would need 48Hz for 3d...3d would just use 3:2 pulldown at 60Hz.
modern theaters are using dlp...not film. Film will flicker...there's no 2 ways about it. And yes..I tend to agree that 60Hz is fine anyhow...
if evaluating the 48Hz option...give it time! It will seem objectionable at first...but after a while, it will just look like a movie theater. This is the same flicker that you would have seen in any movie theater that used film...they...
i can't fathom that you couldn't turn off motion smoothing...that can't be right. s60 is better black that st50, likely because of the lack of screen filter...I'm guessing.

The light really needs to be a daylight bulb...something close to 6500, or a bluish looking light. And in the pic, that is what the amazon light appears to be...could be a great use of 40 bucks.
