I was informed today by WHEC via Facebook that they will be going widescreen this year with HD to follow after that. This should have gone in the Rochester NY thread. Could the mods please move. it. Thanks.

What hardware do 8 & 13 lack in order to broadcast syndicated shows in HD? All the Buffalo stations broadcast their syndicated shows like Jeopardy, Dr. Oz, Wheel of Fortune in HD.
Channel 8 launches its HD newscasts today. Anyone care to speculate how long it will be before Channel 10 makes the switch to HD? Their ratings are likely to suffer being the sole holdout in SD.
WROC made the formal annoucement yesterday that they are upgrading to HD for local news. Will be interesting to see how long WHEC waits to upgrade to HD. Their news ratings have been in decline for awhile with WROC improving their news...
