Many mobile sites have a link for the full version. If you're running Safari 3, then just enable the Develop menu from the advanced prefs. It's no longer necessary to use the Terminal.

Both .mov and .mkv files with h.264 and AC3 tracks play. I've never tried just .m4v or .mp4 files.

Ignore the Front Row in the Applications folder. It's just a helper to launch the real Front Row in the System folder. Front Row 2.1.6 requires QuickTime 7.5.5. You won't be able to install it until you update QuickTime.
