So, what I have:
A good HD-HTPC without a low-res video output
A dead HDTV, and
A big SDTV
I can't afford to replace the hdtv, or to buy an SD video output card, so that's out. I was hoping to use XBMC on my xbox, but...
Unfortunately, my credit card doesn't have that (freaking awesome) feature. I think I may well be screwed. Especially if you're right and the whole panel needs replacing, not just one or more of the three boards.

What's funny is that PDVD will play at full res on both the HDCP protected display AND the vga display. It just fails to start if the vga display's missing. Even though the vga is configured as secondary.
It's a bug, and a retarded...
I got fed up with media portal & tried vista mce...which lacks some of the annoying quirks of media portal but has its own... I've solved some of them but found others I haven't been able to fix.

Considering that Panasonic's MSRP and Pioneer's MSRP on the models you're comparing is vastly different...and that Panasonic honors their warranties wheras Pioneer only honors them from "approved" sellers...
