quote]I am 100% in agreement with your observation regarding the artifacts (macro blocking and pixelization) on Comcat/Xfinity in the Pittsburgh market. WPXI DT is particularly bad on fast motion scenes, but even solid backgrounds appear uneven, almost like small blocks within the background are flashing. This seems to be a relatively new problem, and it’s hard to know whether it is a Comcast or WPXI issue. Like many others, WPXI is “stealing” some of their own...
The CS2 is voice-matched to all the speakers in the Polk Monitor line. Sorry, I don't know how it compares to the RTi6.
For anyone looking for a CS2 center, the CS2 Series II in Cherry or Black is on sale at NewEgg through 8/1. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16882290212 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16882290213 Shed
I own a Rev 1 board, and I haven't had any problems with it. There doesn't seem to be any information specific to the GA-H55-USB3, but I found some info on the GA-H55M-USB3. The H55M is the Micro-ATX version of this board, and it is also going to Rev 2:http://forums.tweaktown.com/f69/giga...changes-39889/ If the changes on the H55 are the same as on the H55M, it sounds like Gigabyte is enhancing the power saving features on Rev 2. I have not followed the thread, but it...
And a well-designed amp will not be nearly as susceptible to ground loop hum as the MFW's very obviously is. My Epik Phoenix is totally silent when it should be, and it shakes the house when it's supposed to. There's no need for BS like cheater plugs, wire-rerouting, no pops or burps on startup, and no loose, missing or stripped hardware. I had an MFW on order last summer, but I cancelled it after the ship date slipped twice. One of the best decisions I ever made. Shed
I haven't listened to them, but their Web site looks like they play an interesting mix. I'll have to check them out.
If you feel more adventurous, check out Radio Paradise. They have an eclectic mix that takes me back to the early days of FM radio when true album rock ruled. It is completely commercial free, and the service is supported solely by voluntary listener contributions. There are no “pledge breaks”, and the music is virtually non-stop. The home page is here: http://www.radioparadise.com/index.php They have many high quality feeds available including a 192K MP3 (limited...
Have you tried swapping out HDMI cables? I had a problem with inconsistent handshaking (black screen, audio dropout etc.) that was cured with a new cable. I would probably start with the cable connecting the HDMI output to the display, since multiple input sources seem to be affected. There is no need to buy "premium" HDMI cables, but the free ones packaged with some consumer electronics seem to be junk. I've never had a problem with inexpensive HDMI cables from...
I cannot fault Onkyo in any way, and I would say that my experience was as positive as it could have been under the circumstances. I took my 876 to Onkyo’s former authorized service center for in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania (actually in Squirrel Hill). When I picked it up, I found that the service center had damaged the unit, and that they taken steps to conceal the damage even though it created a hazardous condition with the potential for electrocution. I documented the...
I felt that way when the 1007 was initially offered as a replacement. I went back and forth with Onkyo and I tried to get the 3007, but they would not budge. Onkyo insisted that the 1007 is the equivalent model in the new product lineup. I even offered to pay the difference to upgrade, but it was a no-go. After further consideration, I realized that the only features I might miss were the Reon chip and the built-in HD radio tuner. The 1007 requires a plug-in module for HD...
