Now I can see that those returned XBR2/XBR3 sets being laid down at Bestbuy, Circuitcity layway to relieve the stress. just joking.
Glad that this method worked for you. Hope many others may be able to solve this issue.
I personally believe that XBR vs XBR3 shouldn't be cause for this issue as the panels and the 'engine' are the same between the models.
However, I tend to believe more on the manufacturing date on this issue unless many of those who have build in July/Aug claims to have cloud/backlight leak issue.
Looks to me that only few sets which those build date have reached the customers. Among them, I am not sure how many are in this forum and participating. Unless we have good...
These are some of the photos of my 46XBR3. As I mentioned earlier, build date is Aug 06 and no cloud/backlight issues. The bright spot at the top center is the reflection from my flash - ignore it. I set the room to be total dark.
I am confused now. I was thinking that allowing native signals from cable box to TV via HDMI cable is better than allowing native signals using DVI->HDMI. Am I wrong????. I believe that HDMI always has uncompress format and DVI has some sort of compression algorithm in it.
I am not sure if all LCDs exhibit clouding problem. My 46XBR3 is 3 weeks old and couple of days back I turned on in a dark room setting and no clouds or backlight issues. I also have Dell 21" LCD (as a computer monitor) and no clouding and blacklight issues so far. My XBR was manufactured in Sept 06. I know that many owners of Oct manufacturing date are complaining about this issue.
Edit : Manufacturing date on mine is Aug 2006.
Toronto1970: In PVR setting are you using picture format -> Auto DVI/HDMI?. Any other setting may drop handshaking. I had this problem with Pace and after changing to 8300, I don't see it any more. Hope this helps.
Thanks to nuttyinnyc, Nascar Dog and others in the forum. It has wealth of information and really appreciate all of your effort to resolve others issues.
Yes, that vertical green line problem is only with HD and not with SD. I will adjust screen to eliminate that.
Does anyone know the broadcast quality of Time Warner vs Dishnetwork. Currenly, I have TSW and thinking Dish could be better choice since they have many more HD channels. But doesn't satellite broadcast...
