i just ordered the newer 27" monitor from monoprice...this one has displayport connectivity, and monoprice says it does not suffer from the same problems as the current 27" does with mac computers...i will let you know when it arrives if...
This is why i try never to suggest running only one VC in a DVC sub. Sure it can physically be done, and it wont damage the driver. But getting people to agree on what goes on when you do it is always a complicated mess.
if all you want is loud bass....go check out the Digital Designs line of subs...2 of their 12's in a ported box should make you the spl leader in your hood. Plus they sound great...and its a great company.
hifonics odin, and soundstream d100II for me...

no but you can get to 4 ohm.....not great...a little low on power at 4 ohm....or go to 1 ohm, just make sure you have plenty of ventilation.

It looks like you have both speaker leads connected to + and +....that can't be correct is it?
