I do just fine with the keyboard in my lap and the mouse on the end-table beside the couch. I assume you guys have tried that; just throwing it out there just in case.

I couldn't get the firmware upgrade to work with windows 7. I ended up using an older laptop from work that runs on windows xp. Worked like a charm.
