You can program just about anything that uses ir. If it's not in the system, you can use the remote from your device and use the learning feature on the 1100. I havent had to use that yet but im sure others will chime in.

If you want a tv go to sams club or costco and buy one that is open box. Sams club has a lifetime warranty. If you have the space go with a projector and a diy screen. You could have a 40 inch tv or a 80+ inch screen with an hd picture....

Buy a 720p projector, make your own screen, buy a receiver, get some base model speakers, and enjoy your movies. Htib systems are okay but they wont compare to system you put together, and you can easily upgrade things as time goes on....
