I currently have the following 6 changers: SONY DVP-NC655P (5 disc CD/DVD carousel changer) SONY DVP-CX995P (400 disc CD/SACD/DVD changer) SONY DVP-CX985V (400 disc CD/SACD/DVD changer) SONY CDP-CX355 (300 disc CD changer) x 2 SONY CDP-CX151 (100 disc CD changer) TECHNICS SL-MC3 (60 disc CD changer) FWIW, they all sound pretty good to me. Then again, I'm 63 years old, & my hearing ain't what it used to be.
http://www.madisoundspeakerstore.com/approx-6-7-woofers/madisound-6102-8-6-polypropylene-cone-woofer/ These are the ones recommended most often, but they're not cheap. Why not replace your surrounds with this kit: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009DNL6Z8/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I bought a pair of Baby Advent II speakers 2 weeks ago & used the kit to repair them.
Kevin, in an effort to help out the community here, I might be willing to provide you with a working Empire to enable your amp development . I've got 2 fully functional Empires that have been going strong for 12-16 hours a day for several years. PM me if you're interested in pursuing this further & we'll see what we can work out. Otherwise , I'll see ya' at the next HEMI meet.

The above link does not apply to your 2008 set. Download the service manual from "justmanuals.com" and follow the illumination adjustment on page 4-28. This will fix your problem. http://manitcor.com/images/hl61a750a_leftshadow/samsung_hl61a750a_illumination_adj_knobs_location.jpg Here's a picture of the adjustment location.
Is HDMI CEC enabled on your Onkyo?

Just a quick thank you for the link. I followed it & was able to fix my 67" easily. Will be doing the same for a good friend with the same set/same shadow problem.
I've got a pair of OM-5s with an OM-C2 & think they're a match made in heaven. I've tried 3 other center channel speakers with the OM-5s (paradigm, emotiva, & advent), ... nothing else came close to the OM-C2. I've used the setup for 8-9 years now & am totally satisfied.
