I think you're going to be disappointed on all counts. It appears that copyright protection on just about all your devices will block the Hauppauge box from recording any of them via HDMI. Hauppauge claims that functionality is to capture only from devices that do not have embedded HDCP. In today's world that pretty much limits you to capturing from a camcorder and home videos. Apple pretty much embeds HDCP now in the digital output of all their devices by default,...
Go into the "Device Settings" button and set the sharpness control all the way to the max. Unfortunately the Hauppauge box excels at capturing HD from its component video inputs, but is very sub-par when recording SD from its video or svideo inputs. Then you need to judge if the applied sharpness is good enough by viewing the image only in the ArcSoft preview screen. You won't see any change in the quality of the image on your monitor connected to the 'through' output...
According to the recorder's manual, you can only record in component interlaced, not progressive: "The COMPONENT VIDEO Y PB PR In jacks are only used for 'interlaced' signals. Signals using progressive scan cannot be processed by the DVD recorder" (page 18, pdf page 30), manual is found here: http://download.m4c.magnavox.com/files/m/mrv640_17b/mrv640_17b_dfu_aen.pdf I see no indications at all from the specs or the manual that this recorder can handle anything other...
No, there's no firmware fix for that kind of issue. If your antenna is outside, what you should do instead of moving the antenna in a different direction, is to add a second fixed antenna pointed in the direction of the second set of stations, and combine that antenna with the first one using a signal combiner into one cable, so that both sets of channels are always available to the DVD recorder. An antenna installation specialist can help you with that kind of...
Technical Data Antennas Direct 91XG Antenna: Dimensions: Length = 93 in. Width = 20 in. Height = 22 in. Turning Radius: 52 in.
Maybe strictly a little off-topic for this forum, but seems to be as good a place as any to post it: Thanks to Robert and all the other Boston area broadcast professionals who probably haven't been home to their families or gotten much sleep over the last four days. The technical ability of the coverage to put the viewer 'right there' where it was actually happening throughout this fast moving story was incredible, and was much appreciated by me watching at...
That looks like a very old-school "66" type telephone company punch block. I'm really surprised the person who put the wiring in given that it's a new house didn't put it on a more user-friendly RJ45 female jack patch panel. This style of block is usually used for phone connections and not data. Maybe that's why it was done this way and not put on RJ45 jacks on a patch panel. One of these blocks used for data connections may work, but it's not recommended. If it...
I own the PVR 1212 and have it connected to my cable box using component cables and record from the movie channels I subscribe to regularly. I've got a huge library of HD movies recorded through the 1212 which I play back from a small server through a Western Digital WDTV media player box to my 1080 plasma and the results are spectacular. Don't be obsessed with having an HDMI input to record from, because unless you're analyzing the video it records with instruments, you...
And the inevitable fine print on the Blackmagic Design Intensity product specs: "HDMI input is unable to capture from copy protected HDMI sources." http://www.blackmagicdesign.com/products/intensity/techspecs I'd be really, really shocked if Netfix was not embedding HDCP flags in their stream.
There is a buyer's comment on the second page of the review section saying that the specifications are wrong and it's not possible to record out to an external USB device: http://www.amazon.co.uk/product-reviews/B007HZHEKA/ref=cm_cr_pr_btm_link_next_2?ie=UTF8&pageNumber=2&showViewpoints=0&sortBy=bySubmissionDateDescending As I mentioned, there is no sign of this feature anywhere in the user's manual. You would think that if this feature existed, there would be a step by...
