I think this thread title should be updated. Samsung have officially stated that this is an LED edge lit Smart TV. In the video embed on HDTV News the Samsung guy says right at the start that it's edge lit....

The major players, well, Sony, LG and Samsung have all released 84-85-Inch models, ie, huge. I have a strong feeling we will see smaller models from them at CES, they just haven't let the news out yet. Well, here is to hoping anyhow.
