Any one figure out a solution for this? I have a similar issue. I start recording and then a couple seconds later it crashes. I verified that it started recording by playing back the small clips it did record in VLC. But it crashes...
I just got the DVE DVD. Am about to put it on. I was going through the online document they have and I don't see anything in there regarding LCDs and backlight settings. Has anyone figured out what to set the backlight and OPC settings...

i do have an hd cable box, going to give that a try with the components as now its plugged in with hdmi. good idea. now i will have a true test. hopefully it is just the dvd output. still though to have the new tv and not have a dvd...
Tried in 480i and it still didn't work. That's a relief then I guess assuming its not the TV.
oh. ok. understood. i will change the settings with the s-vid cable in and then plug in the component cable and see if it works or not.

Seems that it is the component output that is not working. And its not working at all now. I used an S-video cable and it worked just fine just doesn't look all that great. I spoke to Panasonic and they are sending me a warranty...
