Unless you listed the wrong model number the 2313 would be discussed in the XX13 thread while the 2312 would be discussed in this thread along with the other XX12 models. Also note that with a 15m cable, you may need an HDMI extender...
Even in Canada the previous year's model (ie. 1603) should be discounted on clearance to make room for the 1604.
Neither .... considering the new Denon X4000 is less expensive than either one and uses the more advanced Audyssey MultEQ XT32.
Prior to doing a reset, you would have needed to use the Web Control feature (p. 106 OM) to SAVE the config.dat file to a PC so that you could LOAD the file back to the AVR afterwards to restore all settings to include the Audyssey...

Check the "Deep Color Output" setting on the PS3/BDP is set to OFF.
That would probably not be a good idea considering the voltage difference between the two outputs and if your cables are < 10', there's not likely to be any audible quality difference between the RCA and XLR cables anyway.

The low end Denon and Marantz models that meet your requirements in that price range would be the Denon E300 and last year's Marantz 1603 may be inside your budget as it's on clearance having been replaced by the 1604.
