3310CI .... but moot point really as the OP has a 3313CI and more importantly using EXT IN jacks would disable Audyssey and the majority prefer using HDMI with Audyssey for SACD.

Could be the quality of the converter. Try bypassing the 509 and connect Blu Ray player to converter to PJ to test. If still poor quality, then either try another converter or upgrade to an HDMI PJ.
Sounds like the speakers are still connected to the Front B speaker posts? If yes, reconnect them to the Surr Back/Amp Assign posts and set Amp Assign to Zone 2 which will then give you independent volume control to Zone 2.
Denon's 4311CI (few years old) is 9.2 and the new X4000 is 7.2 but can be expanded to 9.2 by adding a 2CH amp or another AVR; either of which can be had under your budget.
The 7007 is only a 7CH AVR so that means if you have a 5.1 setup in the main zone, you have only 2CH remaining to power EITHER the Front Wide OR the Zone 2 but not both as that would require a 9.1 AVR. If you want both FW and Zone 2,...
Be sure to review the Audyssey 101/FAQ Guide linked in my sig as well to get the most out of Audyssey to include using either a camera tripod or mic boom stand to support the Audyssey mic.
