This can also happen if those bulbs are old style incandescent. The filaments can be shaken enough to cause flickering. Happens alot to the lights in my ceiling fan. KInd of cool to show off the awesomeness of the subs that way to guests...

I'd try the original software again. A few months ago I also installed the new software (non pro version) on my 3 yr old unit and ran into problems when using more than 1 measurment location. I forget the error but my XTZ runs fine ...
