I removed the IDT driver, rebooted, and opened the sound control panel applet. Yes, I can test both dolby digital and dts. However, when I go into media center, it stays at stereo. Am I missing something? This exact setup worked under Vista earlier this week so I am discounting hardward. Thanks, Jim
Thanks. I have dolby digital enabled in the IDT driver for the s/pdif. That was all I needed in vista. Now, when I go to properties, under formats, it shows dolby digital and dts selected, but when I select one of them and click test, it get an error and deselects that format. Jim
Do you get dolby digital sound? I just installed windows 7 and my optical connection will not carry dolby digital anymore only stereo. It did with vista. Jim
OK, a stupid question. What does it do for me?
Just installed windows 7 on this board along with updating the bios to 117. I installed the ME software from Intel. Is there a user interface to this? I could not find anything in the start menu or control panel. Thanks, Jim

Did anybody have problems with Fringe last night (Thursday)? My recording log said "The set-top was unable to record this program." Jim
OK, so that rules out one of the possbilities. Where do I go from here? When I go into control panel -> sound and click on the Digital Output Device (HDMI) and configure, I get a box that has speaker setup and show stereo as the only option. The SPDIF shows 5.1. The video card control panel doesn't show anything about sound. Jim
