$1500-$2000 is way to much for a used AV 8003. I wouldn't pay that much for a brand new sealed one. A4L and the AV 7005 is the way to go !
Then buy the AV 7005. I have heard both and they are about even for music. The 7005 sounded better for home theater IMHO. If you are set on an AV 8003 then check out the Audiogon site. I believe there are two nice 8003's on Audiogon...

I agree with batpig wholeheartedly. In fact, if you mix the wrong components together, you could conceivably end up spending more cash, and take a step down in audio quality.
Don't be at all surprised, if nether the 4520 or 8801 puts the AV 7005 to shame. In my humble opinion, the AV 7005 is very much an overachiever at it's price point. Marantz really hit one out of the park on the AV 7005.
