Thanks, I was happy with the Northridges back when I had a higher power receiver, but the 606 can't do them justice. Unless their newer speakers are significantly more sensitive, I would probably have the same issue
Thanks, I was hoping I could get by with keeping the 606 since, other than the volume, I rather like it.
Here are some of the deals I am considering, please let me know if these would be a good value and match to the 606 or if I should look elsewhere:
-2x SCS-01(M), 4 x SBS-01, 1 x SCS-01 center: $889
-same as above but with STS-01 towers $1230 (maybe the towers are too big for the 606 to power?)
-sub would be separate, probably a AV123 MFW-15 that I can get...
Hopefully you guys can suggest some good speakers that can fill a big room using this receiver
I got my 606 in the S7100 HTiB, but the Onkyo speakers are cheap and don't get loud enough so I hooked up my old JBL Northridges...they are louder and better, but still not loud enough for my basement.
Here are some I noticed on sale, but 1) I have no experience with them and 2) don't know if the 606 could power them adequately
-2x SCS-01(M), 4 x SBS-01, 1 x...
I just moved my HT to my new house (20'x30' basement) to discover my current setup is too quiet
Are there some relatively inexpensive speakers ($1000/set) sensitive enough to be powered adequately by my existing receiver or would I be better off just keeping the speakers I got and buying a more powerful receiver or a dedicated amp to piggyback on the Onkyo?
I'm running my PS3 through an Onkyo TX-SR606 receiver (90w/7ch continuous). The HTIB speakers that came with...
I'm experiencing the same pain with skin tones--even though my calibration is "correct" from a purely technical point of view, faces look sunburnt. I find it looks dramatically better if I increase the color temp from 6500 to 7000 or even 7500, but I feel guilty doing that
Your review/comments were centered on movies...So what's the verdict on Opera in HD? I've been debating upgrading my collection to bluray. Also, the genre seems an ideal candidate for FI; how much difference does it make? Is it more like "being there" with it on?
Wow, HD opera (and theater) should really be awesome with FI on...be sure to let us know! I don't have anything like that on blu-ray yet although I have been meaning to pick up the Flórez Barbiere di Siviglia
Thanks guys for the settings; I will try them out this weekend. I am using Art's settings for TB1 and I am not really satisfied with the colors (although they are better than the base settings for sure). I know the importance of calibration, but I can't justify spending hundreds of dollars for tools and software to get there.
I have a lower gain screen (grey), about 130 inches diagonal. I purchased it in Italy from Adeo Group and I'm not sure the exact gain, but I...
